What is DinkyTask?
DinkyTask is a family task and learning app. The parent decides what the day's expectations are, the child works through them on their own phone or tablet, and the system keeps it all visible with points, rewards and clear feedback.
The point is not surveillance — it is a shared frame. Everyone sees the same thing, so nobody has to argue from memory about what was agreed, what got done, and why the reward is (or is not) due.
What a weekday looks like
The fastest way to understand the app is a concrete example.
Tuesday afternoon, Lily (11)
- The evening before, the parent puts together a daily plan: homework with a photo, 10 minutes of reading aloud, and the usual bed-making. The plan is set to start at 3 p.m. and end at 7 p.m.
- At 3 p.m. the tasks appear on Lily's phone. Before that she only sees a countdown, so there is no rushing ahead and no forgetting.
- Lily does the tasks: photographs the finished homework, reads aloud for 10 minutes, ticks off the bed-making.
- The parent gets a notification for each submission and approves or sends it back from their phone. Anything sent back can be retried.
- When the plan closes, the stars for the approved tasks are credited. Lily can see she is only 20 stars away from the cinema trip.
Roles
- Parent — creates the family, builds tasks and daily plans, reviews submissions, and sets up and approves rewards. A family can have more than one parent.
- Child — uses the app with their own login, completes tasks, collects points, earns badges, and can request rewards.
What it is made of
Tasks
Six types: quiz, matching, reading aloud, photo proof, video and daily habit. For each one you decide how many attempts are allowed, what it is worth, and who reviews it.
Daily plans
A task list for one specific day, with a time window. This is what holds the day together, and what the scoring is based on.
Points
⭐ stars for required tasks, 💎 diamonds for bonus extras. They accumulate separately and can be spent separately.
Reward shop
You decide what is on offer and at what price — screen time, ice cream, a movie night. The child requests, the parent approves.
Study material library
Typed or photographed study material with summaries, a question bank, a practice mode and audio you can listen to.
AI Homework Helper
Not a free chat: the child can only ask questions inside guided topics created by the parent — and every conversation stays readable.
Stars, diamonds and badges
Required tasks pay in stars, bonus tasks pay in diamonds. Stars are the everyday currency; diamonds are the rarer, more valuable achievement — so you can price an expensive reward in diamonds and make sure quantity is not the only thing that counts.
On top of that, the child collects badges: for streaks of completed days, for flawless plans, for persistence in a given task type. Badges carry no points, but they make longer-term progress visible.
What gives points their meaning is the reward shop: you decide what is on offer and at what price. A few small, quickly reachable items plus one or two bigger weekly goals are already enough to make collecting worthwhile.
How to get started
- Register as a parent and create your family.
- Add your child and give them their own login.
- Install the app on the child's device too — on Android or on iPhone/iPad.
- Set up 2–3 rewards so the points have something to buy.
- Create one simple daily plan — two or three tasks is plenty to start with.
- Turn on notifications on both sides so you do not have to keep logging in.
The first week is mostly calibration: that is when you find out how many tasks a day is realistic and what reward prices work for your family. Adjust as you go.
What DinkyTask is not for
- It is not a monitoring tool. It does not track the child's location, read their messages, or watch what they do in other apps.
- It is not a free AI chat. The child can only ask questions inside topics the parent created, and the conversation stays readable.
- It does not replace parental judgement. The points, the approvals and the rewards all stay with you — the app just makes them visible and consistent.
Do you need AI?
No. DinkyTask works fully without it: tasks, plans, points, rewards, badges and notifications are all available. AI saves the parent time (quiz generation, study-material processing, automatic review), but it is an optional layer. Details: AI and credit allowance.
