AI and credit allowance
DinkyTask is usable without AI. The AI layer saves parents time and can help children learn, but it does not replace parental judgment.
What can AI do today?
- task generation, such as quizzes or matching exercises,
- importing, processing, summarizing, and narrating learning materials,
- starting questions and AI Homework Helper topics from existing material,
- text recognition from textbook or notebook photos,
- AI-assisted checking for reading and photo tasks.
The current plan model
- trial — 7 days, 100 one-time AI credits, full premium trial access
- premium — €4.49 / month, 1000 AI credits per month
- extra credits — active subscribers only: 500 AI credits / 30 days / €2.49 or 1000 AI credits / 90 days / €4.49
- free — core features without AI access
Estimated AI credit cost by operation
AI credit is the unit used for parent-visible AI operations. DinkyTask shows an estimate before starting when possible, and the final charge is recorded after a successful operation.
| Operation | Expected cost | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Generate an AI quiz | about 3 AI credits | Refused or failed generation is not finally charged. |
| Generate AI matching pairs | about 3 AI credits | For concept pairs, word pairs, or practice. |
| Process learning material | about 10+ AI credits | Minimum 10 credits; longer material can cost more based on text length. |
| OCR from images/photos | about 2 AI credits | Text recognition from textbook, notebook, or worksheet photos. |
| Create an AI Homework Helper topic | about 5 AI credits | Parent-created guided study topic, optionally with source material. |
| AI Homework Helper chat message | about 2 AI credits | Each child question/message sent to the AI helper. |
| Reading task speech recognition | about 3 AI credits | STT processing for the child’s read-aloud recording. |
| Reading task AI evaluation | about 2 AI credits | AI-based review of reading quality. |
| Photo submission AI evaluation | about 3 AI credits | Per submission, when that task uses AI review. |
| Narration — Mokka | 0 AI credits | Simple, fast basic narration with no credit charge. |
| Narration — Atlas | about 1 AI credit / started 100 words | More natural voice for longer learning materials; cost depends on narrated text length. |
| Narration — Nova | about 3+ AI credits | Premium narration voice; longer text can gradually increase the cost. |
Which credits are used first?
If a family has multiple active AI credit buckets at the same time — for example trial credits, monthly premium credits, and purchased or gifted extra credits — DinkyTask always spends the bucket that expires soonest first. This helps shorter-lived credits get used before longer-lasting extra credits.
If the trial or subscription is no longer active, any remaining allowance from that plan is no longer usable. In that case, only active, unexpired extra credits can still be used for AI features.
What happens when the AI credit allowance runs out?
AI features pause, but the main app keeps working. Daily plans, tasks, rewards, and parent approval do not stop because of this. In premium, the monthly allowance refills in the next cycle, or parents can buy an extra credit pack.
What happens when the trial ends?
If no premium subscription starts, the family moves to the free plan. AI features pause, but normal task and reward management remains available.
Parent perspective
It is best to treat AI as an assistive layer: it speeds things up, suggests, generates, and checks, but the final responsibility and control still stay with the parent.
